Ben Davis Little League

What are the ages for Ben Davis Little League®?
Boys and girls 4-6: T-Ball (coach pitch/t-ball)
Boys and girls 6-8: Rookie (coach pitch)
Boys and girls 8-10: Minors (kid pitch)
Boys and girls 10-12: Majors

What is the cost to play?
For 2020, the cost is $105 for t-ball and $150 for baseball. This fee is reevaluated each year. Also this year there is a Mandatory Volunteer fee of $35 that will be reimburse after 4 hours of volunteering.  We do everything possible to keep fees as low as possible, while covering necessary league fees and field/equipment maintenance. Each year, players are also required to participate in a mandatory fundraiser. In 2020, this is a raffle (just like 2019). Each player is required to sell 7 tickets at $10 each. Details will be provided at time of registration, including the list of raffle prizes.

Based on experience, may my child play up or down a league?
Children who demonstrate higher skill levels may be drafted into higher levels of play; however, kids can never play down a league.

How many kids play in the league?

In 2019, we had approximately 250 players and 20 teams.

Do we have to live in the area for my child to play at Ben Davis Little League®?
The boundary map for BDLL can be viewed here. Children must either live or go to school within these defined district boundaries.

If we do not live in the BDLL playing area, are there other options for my child to play?
Click here to visit Little League's league finder. Enter the your address, and they will direct you to your appropriate league.

Who runs the Ben Davis Little League®?
BDLL is 100% volunteer run. We have an active volunteer board of directors who set the direction of the league and oversee the general management of the organization. That said, the organization belongs to all of us - the kids and parents! Coaches, umpires, team parents, field maintenance, concessions, and sponsorship volunteers are always in need! We couldn't provide the excellent quality experience that BDLL is known for without committed parent engagement. Little League® provides training to coaches and umpires. Bring us your skills, ideas, and interests! Contact our board president,  Kyle O'Rouker, or information officer, Al Ortiz, for information on how to get involved!

Need Based Scholarships

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available each year to families who are interested in working extra volunteer hours. For more information, contact Al Ortiz. An application demonstrating financial need is required, as limited funds are available. However, we do want all kids to be able to play!

Equipment FAQs

What equipment does my child minimally need to play?
T-ball players at minimum must have their own glove. All other players need their own glove, bat, baseball cleats, and helmet.

What type of bat does my child need?
Your child must have a bat that bears the 2018 USABat marking. See USABat for details and a full list of approved bats. If your child's bat does not meet regulation standards, they will not be allowed to use it in practices, games, or tournaments. For further information on Little League requirements for 2018, visit Little League guidelines.

What if I cannot afford equipment?
Our league has some donated equipment that we may be able to assist you with. If you need help sourcing items for your child, please let one of our board members know. You can contact Al Ortiz to get started.

Can BDLL use my child's equipment that he/she has outgrown?
We will be happy to receive donations of gloves, helmets, bats, and cleats in excellent to good playing condition. Please give them to your coach or drop them off at the concessions stand to be recycled for other players in need.
